SEOUL, South Korea – July 4, 2012 – Motorola Korea and KT Powertel today announced the release of the Motorola XT626, an Android -powered push-to-talk smartphone that supports both iDEN and 3G networks. With this versatile device you can select either push-to-talk functionality on iDEN or smartphone features on a 3G network or even both in one package for maximum flexibility. In Korea KT Powertel will market the Motorola XT626 as the DOUBLE V.
The Motorola XT626 doubles up as either an iDEN device or a smartphone based on the SIM cards inserted. With iDEN push-to-talk functionality, you can make instant phone calls, group talks or group text messaging whenever you need to. With Android 2.3, you can use apps or access the Internet over WiFi or 3G, as well as making calls on the 3G network.
No matter where you are, the Motorola XT626 can keep you in touch with your team thanks to a pre-loaded application that enables push-to-talk capability over WiFi when the iDEN network is not available. You can also send MMS messages and you’ll never miss a push-to-talk message even when you’re in a phone call.
“Motorola XT626 offers true communications flexibility with support for both iDEN and 3G networks in one device,” said Greg Page, vice president and general manager, iDEN, Motorola Mobility. “With the advantages of both push-to-talk and Android-powered smartphone features, Motorola XT626 opens the door to new opportunities for service providers and professionals who need to stay in touch with their teams anytime, anywhere.”
KT Powertel will offer the Motorola XT626 under the model name DOUBLE V at their service centers nationwide from early July. For more information on the Motorola XT626 features and pricing, please visit KT Powertel’s website at www.ktpowertel.co.kr.
